LIVERPOOL POTENTIAL STARTING 11 FOR SEASON 2019-20 TRANSFER RUMOURS

Posted on 22 May 2019

After narrowly missing out on the 2018-19 Premier League title to Manchester City, Liverpool will be hungrier than ever to go one step further next season. The problem of course is that Jurgen Klopp already has an incredibly talented squad of players, so just who could they sign to improve them?

As we did recently for Manchester United, just for a bit of fun, we thought we'd put together a potential starting 11, based on current transfer rumours. Let's take a look at who the media would suggest Jurgen Klopp will be looking to bring in to try and finally get them over the line in the Premier League.

GK - ALISSON

Current Value on Football Index: £0.63

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 6/10

Coming in last summer with a huge transfer fee, many questioned if Alisson was worth the outlay. This season has answered that question emphatically, proving to be an excellent keeper well worth his lofty price tag.

With his single name on Football Index and the fact that Media will be opened up to all players next season, Alisson has proven form in winning Media dividends. He's also grabbed a single Performance win and with In-Play dividends, he looks a good value option for next season.

LEFT BACK - ANDY ROBERTSON

Current Value on Football Index: £1.16

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 5/10

Robertson has had an outstanding season fully cementing his place in the Liverpool defence that has been so strong this season. He is rightly regarded as one of, if not the very best left back in the league and will be looking to continue that reputation throughout next season.

On the Index, he's been somewhat unlucky to have so far failed to grab a single dividend win, despite healthy Performance scores. If he could change that stat next season, he could suddenly look very good value.

RIGHT BACK: TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD

Current Value on Football Index: £1.80

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 6/10

Similar to Robertson, TAA has also had an incredible season, earning much deserved plaudits. It's surely only a matter of time until he claims the right back spot for England and could be a fixture for club and country for many years to come.

Unlike Robertson, Alexander-Arnold has been a high dividend returner on Football Index, with six Top Defender and two Star Player Performance wins to date. With his in mind, he could be a very good hold for next season.

CENTRE BACK - MATTHIJS DE LIGT

Current Value on Football Index: £2.87

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 7/10

Another player who has been outstanding for his club in recent times. Whilst it now appears that Barcelona are head of the queue to sign De Ligt, he has had strong links to Liverpool.

If Liverpool could pull off what would be a huge signing, Di Ligt would offer excellent value on the Index. At Barca, we'd be more cautious, especially at his current value.

CENTRE BACK - VIRGIL VAN DIJK

Current Value on Football Index: £2.88

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 8/10

Similar to Alisson, when Liverpool splashed out the huge transfer fee for Virgil Van Dijk, questions were asked if they were overpaying. It's safe to say now that Liverpool not only didn't overpay, but it now looks like they got an absolutely bargain, with Van Dijk firmly established as the best central defender in the world.

Van Dijk has also been a consistent dividend returner on Football Index. He's media friendly and has shown he has what it takes to win Performance dividends too. Even at his expensive current value, VVD looks a solid hold for next season if you're after some fairly certain dividends.

MIDFIELD - ADRIEN RABIOT

Current Value on Football Index: £1.39

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 5/10

If there is potentially one area where Liverpool could upgrade, it would probably be in central midfield. Their current options are top class, but the addition of Frenchman Adrien Rabiot would certainly beef things up. It has long been known that he's leaving PSG this summer and Liverpool are heavily in the mix of admirers.

On Football Index, Rabiot has not shown anything in the way of being a potential dividend machine. He's delivered a few decent Performance scores but we would suspect his main attraction to traders will be some potential Media returns, should a transfer to Anfield materialise.

MIDFIELD - Naby Keita

Current Value on Football Index: £1.16

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 7/10

Naby Keita joined Liverpool last season and has taken a little time to settle at the club. He will be looking to firmly claim his midfield spot next season and show why Liverpool were so determined to buy him.

Keita has shown decent form on Football Index in terms of delivering both Media and Performance dividends. Considering his relatively slow start to his Anfield career, the signs are positive that he can continue to deliver dividends.

MIDFIELD - ISCO

Current Value on Football Index: £1.66

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 7/10

Whilst it looks like Gareth Bale will be the biggest transfer out of Real Madrid this summer, Isco may well be also following him out of the door. Isco has been long rumoured to be surplus to requirements at Madrid and if this summer he does finally leave, Liverpool are the latest club to be heavily linked.

Isco would be very newsworthy transfer should he move to the Premier League so the potential for Media dividends is high - especially with his one name advantage. We'd also expect to see his value increase should he be wearing the red of Liverpool next season.

FORWARD - SADIO MANE

Current Value on Football Index: £2.49

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 7/10

Sadio Mane had the kind of season for Liverpool where, similar to how they lost the title to Manchester City, would quite probably have been Liverpool's player of the season were it not for the fact Virgil Van Dijk exists! Mane replicating this season's returns will be a key component of Liverpool challenging for the league once again.

Those impressive performances have translated to healthy dividend returns in both Media and Performance. Again, if he can repeat the form of this season, he should be expected to deliver similar returns again on the Index.

FORWARD - TIMO WERNER

Current Value on Football Index: £1.95

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 7/10

It has been well publicised that RB Leipzig will sell Timo Werner this summer due to the forward's reluctance to sign a new contract. Jurgen Klopp is a reported admirer of the German and would very much like to add him to Liverpool's already fearsome attacking options.

Werner has delivered a handful of Performance wins so far on the Index so there is no reason why he would not do the same at Anfield. He should also be good for some Media returns should the transfer start to materialise.

FORWARD - MOHAMED SALAH

Current Value on Football Index: £4.84

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 9/10

After a second highly impressive season for Liverpool, Mohamed Salah is now clearly in amongst the world's elite forward players. He will undoubtedly be the man Klopp looks towards next season as his star striker in their quest for glory.

Not only is Salah amongst the elite on the pitch, but he's also in the same category on Football Index. As a regular deliverer of dividends in both Media and Performance he is one of the few players that can be considered as a guaranteed dividend winner next season. In particular on the Media front where Salah comfortably sits in the top 5 all time Media winners.
