FRANK LAMPARD CONFIRMED AS NEW CHELSEA MANAGER FOOTBALL INDEX REACTION

Posted on 04 July 2019

In what had become a matter of when, not if it would happen, Chelsea have now confirmed former playing legend, Frank Lampard as their new manager. Lampard of course leaves Championship side Derby County whom he took to the Play-Off Final last season before falling to Aston Villa and replaces the much maligned Maurizio Sarri who has landed the Juventus job.

We previously looked at how Chelsea could initially line up under Lampard, with specific focus on some of the younger players who are likely to be given more prominent roles. You can check out that article in the link below, and we'll add our YouTube video onto the end of this article.

With speculation running rife for a few weeks, there has already been plenty of price increases on Football Index for Chelsea players. Now that the news is official, let's look at some of the names who have been given a further boost this morning.

On the squad list, young midfielder George McEachran is the highest placed riser with a 5p boost taking him to a current high of 75p.

Onto the Top 200, there are a numerous Chelsea players all showing green numbers. Currently the lowest riser by just 2p is Mason Mount. With many traders and experts alike all expecting Mount to be a favourite of Lampard, it's a little surprising to only see a 2p rise up to £2.19. Particularly as Lampard has singled him out in his first Chelsea interview.

Next is Ethan Amapdu, with the young defender currently up 4p to £1.19. Again, as a player expected to be given some opportunities by Lampard, it's no real surprise to see him being focused on by Football Index Traders.

Christian Pulisic is next, currently up 8p to bring his price to £2.29. With his transfer taking place before Chelsea's transfer ban and being the man chosen to try and replace Eden Hazard, we can fully understand traders adding Pulisic to their portfolios.

Finally, the current highest riser on the entire Football Index is Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Up 12p to £2.27, Loftus-Cheek also has breaking news due to signing a new five year contract at the club. As an already fairly established first team player with International experience, RLC will surely be one of the players Lampard looks to firmly push in his new look Chelsea side.

There will be plenty of focus on how Lampard begins his Chelsea managerial career and all eyes will be on players like Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic, Mount and of course, Callum Hudson-Odoi once back from injury to see how they perform.
