FRANK LAMPARD AS NEW CHELSEA MANAGER POTENTIAL STARTING 11 FOR SEASON 2019-20

Posted on 20 June 2019

With Chelsea having already chewed up and spat out yet another manager in Maurizio Sarri, the red hot favourite to take over the Blue's hot seat is former club legend, Frank Lampard.

After taking his first managerial job with Derby County, Lampard has proven himself to be an exciting up and coming coach, leading the Rams to the Championship Play-Off Final where they lost to Aston Villa.

With Chelsea also serving a transfer ban, the call for Super Frank Lampard to rescue the situation is heating up. It is expected that Lampard's main task will be to bring through and enhance a number of the exciting younger talents at the club who have so far failed to be given the chances afforded to more established names under previous managers.

So let's take a look at what could be Frank Lampard's Chelsea starting XI next season, if indeed he does become the next Chelsea manager, which we think will combine elements of youth and experience.

GK - KEPA ARRIZABALAGA

Current Value on Football Index: £0.45

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 4/10

Coming into the Chelsea team with a huge transfer fee, Kepa has proven to be a very reliable pair of hands between the sticks. Miscommunication with Sarri aside, he has quickly established himself as a key player for Chelsea.

He will unquestionably be Chelsea number one again under Lampard and, unless we see another example of Kepa ignoring his manager, history suggests that his chances of Media and Performance dividends will be limited. He should however be a decent should for in-play dividends.

LEFT BACK - EMERSON

Current Value on Football Index: £0.61

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 5/10

Having seemingly taken over the left sided defensive duties from Marcos Alonso, we expect Lampard to continue where he left off under Sarri.

Emerson has so far delivered a couple of Performance Match Day wins to his name so far and if he can nail down a starting spot, there's every chance he could add more.

RIGHT BACK: CESAR AZPILICUETA

Current Value on Football Index: £0.42

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 5/10

As mentioned previously, whilst Lampard will likely push for youth players to come through, he'll need a level of experience in the side too - similarly to how he brought in Ashley Cole to Derby. Azpilicueta is one of the most reliable and consistent performers for Chelsea and should be someone Lampard can rely on.

Azpilicueta is likely to face competition from Reece James as the season progresses, but for now Azpi is likely to be the main man.

CENTRE BACK - DAVID LUIZ

Current Value on Football Index: £0.38

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 6/10

Another player offering experience is David Luiz. Having found himself back in the side and first choice centre back under Sarri, Luiz will probably be among Lampard's first choices too.

Luiz will face competition from Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori if Lampard looks to go with a more youthful option in central defence. Luiz has a decent history of delivering dividends including a high score of 213.

CENTRE BACK - ANTONIO RUDIGER

Current Value on Football Index: £0.71

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 8/10

Easily the stand out defender for Chelsea last season until a knee injury ended things for him. When back fit, Rudiger will almost certainly be first choice under Lampard and his key central defender.

For Football Index traders, Rudiger's return is also higly anticipated. Having notched up 3 top defender wins last season and an average Match Day Performance score of 91, big things are expected of him once again.

MIDFIELD - N'GOLO KANTE

Current Value on Football Index: £0.50

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 5/10

After a curious season under Sarri in which he saw his standout position taken over by Jorginho, we fully expect Frank Lampard to return Kante back into the defensive destroyer role in which his is undoubtedly one of the best in the world.

Whilst Kante has hit some very respectable Performance scores, we think the switch back to a more defensive role could hamper him achieving winning scores.

MIDFIELD - MASON MOUNT

Current Value on Football Index: £2.16

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 7/10

After spending last season on loan at Derby County and being a firm favourite of Lampard's, Mason Mount will be hoping to get his chance back at Chelsea. If there is one manager willing to do that, then Lampard is surely him.

Mount has the key ingredients to make him a potential star on Football Index - he's young, English and an exciting attacking player. He is already expensive at over £2 per share, but as we've already seen with the likes of Sancho, Foden and Hudson-Odoi, the sky is the limit for players of his ilk.

MIDFIELD - RUBEN LOFTUS-CHEEK

Current Value on Football Index: £1.93

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 6/10

Similar to Mount, Loftus-Cheek will be hoping that the arrival of Frank Lampard is where his Chelsea career really starts to flourish. Having notched up a fair number of appearances, he still doesn't quite feel like he's been a key player for previous managers.

If RLC can become a stalwart of the Chelsea midfield and begin to dominate games as he appears capable of, his Football Index value can still head respectfully north.

FORWARD - WILLIAN

Current Value on Football Index: £0.81

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 6/10

Again, as an experienced international Willian will likely play a big role in Lampard's Chelsea. He will unquestionably face stiff competition from Callum Hudson-Odoi once the England winger returns from injury, but for now we see Willian as the strongest candidate for the position.

Willian has delivered 4 Performance Match Day wins so far thanks to his eye for goal in match winning situations. Again, if he gets the game time under Lampard, he will be expected to rack up a few more.

FORWARD - CHRISTIAN PULISIC

Current Value on Football Index: £1.89

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 7/10

If there was one situation in football you probably wouldn't want to be in, then being tasked with replacing Eden Hazard must rank high up the list. The American attacker looks like he will be Chelsea's only signing this summer, having concluded his transfer before the ban was handed out.

With him being Chelsea's only new player and the media attention on replacing Hazard, there could be the possibility of media dividends coming his way. If he can settle in the Premier League too, then there is also certainly a big chance of Match Day dividends too.

FORWARD - TAMMY ABRAHAM

Current Value on Football Index: £1.77

Footy Index Scout Value Rating: 7/10

Finally, we come to the position that has troubled Chelsea ever since losing Diego Costa - the focal striker. Having tried with players like Giroud, Morata and Higuain, Lampard my decide that the time has finally come to draft in Tammy Abraham.

Abraham of course spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, helping them to play off promotion to the Premier League thanks to the aforementioned victory over, ironically, Lampard's Derby County. Offering pace and power, Lampard my decide that now is the time to see if Abraham can cut it in the Premier League.
