How Neymar's PSG Transfer Could See Other Deals HappenOften when clubs make big money signings, it requires the buying team to offload other players in order to facilitate the cost. Or, as in the case of Neymar and his astounding world record transfer to PSG, the need to comply with financial fair play regulations.
With that in mind, we thought we'd take a look at some potential big names who could be classed as collateral damage at Paris as the French giants look to balance their books.
We'll also look at how these transfers could make them great players to add to your Football Index portfolio either for quick flips or longer term holds.
The first name that jumps out is Italian central midfielder Marco Verratti. He's been most strongly linked with a move to Neymar's old club Barcelona and the move would make a lot of sense.
With Barca looking to refresh their squad, Verratti is exactly the type of skillful, neat and tidy player the Spanish superpower look for.
Verratti also has tentative links with Manchester United, which as we know is always Football Index gold. However, the Barcelona link seems to be the most likely and so makes Veratti something of a gamble to own. He is ripe for a quick flip though if you time it right.
Next up we have a potential target for Arsenal as they look to improve on their attacking wide players. Lucas Moura has emerged as a strong option for Arsenal as they struggle to push through deals for either of Riyad Mahrez or Thomas Lemar.
At 24 years of age, the Brazilian could be a potential bargain and a player that PSG are happy to move along in order to get quick cash back into the books. Despite a healthy return of 45 goals and 47 assists in his 223 games for PSG, he's still struggled to gain the plaudits. This could add further fuel to the speculation that Moura is primed for a deal to be concluded quickly.
At a current price of around 75p, as we have seen with both Mahrez and Lemar in recent weeks, that price would easily double if Arsenal were to lay down a firm offer. We make him a decent option to consider at a fairly low risk.
Finally, what transfer rumour roundup would be complete without linking a player to Manchester United? Certainly not this one! But this transfer requires a middle step. Former United flop, Angel Di Maria is another player who may find himself a victim of Neymar's arrival.
There has been very strong rumours that Di Maria is now a target of Italian giants Inter Milan. A big money move looks to be on the cards and Di Maria may welcome a move away from PSG in order to avoid being in the inevitable shadow of the Brazilian posterboy.
Were this to happen, it could signal the final piece of the puzzle with long standing United target Ivan Perisic finally getting his move to Old Trafford.
Whilst most recent reports suggest that Perisic has been offered a juicy big new contract at Inter, there's no doubt that the timing of Di Maria potentially arriving in Milan would be a huge indicator of United still getting their man.
Perisic's price has fluctuated quite a lot recently with a low of £1.45 and a current value of around £1.50. But with recent high points of nearly £2.50, it shows that were the United links to fire up again, there is bags of room for big profits to be made. It's a slightly risky move and one that may rely on another taking place. So maybe it's best to keep an eye on Di Maria and take your cues from there.
