Football Index Performance Buzz Preview Week 2 - Manchester City v Everton
After a week's delayed introduction, Football Index are finally bringing Performance Buzz into play. With details fully confirmed and after clearing up a somewhat embarrassing foot in mouth moment from CEO Adam Cole, traders can now fully settle on picking out their desired targets.
As a quick recap, the Performance Buzz relies solely on results and performances on the pitch in order to determine each winner. Each match day there will be dividend returns for players in the categories of: Overall best player along with the best player in each position - striker, midfielder and defender or goalkeeper.
As we did in Week One of this series, we will once again look ahead the weekend's fixtures and pick out some players who we think have the potential to walk away with the dividend wins.
Browsing the fixtures reveals that as usual, Saturday features a heavily congested fixture list with all 5 top leagues in action. The Premier League features 7 games, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga both have 6 games whilst La Liga and Serie A have 3 and 2 matches respectively.
With that in mind, even though Saturday will deliver the highest tier of dividend payouts, we'd suggest giving it a miss and count it as a nice bonus if you happen to pick up a winner.
Sunday is a little more relaxed as only Italy features more than a few games. In France, PSG are in action against Toulouse, so many will have their eyes on predicted star performers in defence such as Thiago Silva and Dani Alves.
An alternate shout in the defensive category may well be AC Milan 'keeper Donnarumma. The young Italian star ranked 3rd overall last season for Goalkeepers with only Tottenham's Hugo Lloris above him as a player currently on the Index.
When it comes to strikers, it's hard to look past Neymar as we again look at the PSG fixture. However, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid also in action against teams they should be looking to beat comfortably, Messi and Benzema may also come into the reckoning, especially with Ronaldo watching from the stands due to his 5 game ban.
In midfield, Christian Eriksen will be looking to put in another masterclass against Chelsea. As the most tightly contested position on the Index however, we'd again say if you pick up the winner take it as a nice bonus!
Finally, the most obvious day to look at is Monday night where Manchester City take on Everton as the only game to feature players currently in the Football Index top 200.
Thus it makes sense to delve into the much shallower pool of players in order to try and clean up with a full house of dividend returns.
Naturally City will be looking to dominate in both the match and Performance Buzz. As the only featured goalkeeper on the Index, Jordan Pickford may be a decent shout as City will surely pepper the Everton goal with shots.
Competition will come in defence though with City boasting Kyle Walker, Vincent Kompany and John Stones. With Walker likely to be very attacking, he's our standout pick in this category.
In midfield there's one big standout name and that is of course City's chief playmaker and creator Kevin De Bruyne. However with team mate David Silva always in the mix for creating and scoring, he could be a much cheaper alternative.
For Everton, new £45m signing Gylfi Sigurdsson will be looking to jump straight into the action and make his mark.
Finally as striking options go, we'd have to look at this being a battle between 3 stars: Sergio Aguero is already off the mark this season, whilst Gabriel Jesus has made a fantastic start to his City career, injuries aside of course.
Then for Everton we have the one and only Wayne Rooney. After scoring on his second Everton debut last weekend, there would surely be no greater pleasure than for him to follow that up with another goal against his old United rivals, City.
So there we go, a detailed look at this coming weekend and the first games to fully feature Performance Buzz dividends on the Football Index. It's going to be very exciting seeing which players start to dominate, if indeed any do and how it effects their value on the market.
Remember that we'll be keeping a full history of Performance Buzz winners on our website along with our usual array of stats so be sure to keep visiting and checking them out.
