Following on from our Manchester United transfer rumour special, we take a look at the potential signings of another dominant club on the index, Chelsea.
Second only to United, Chelsea players tend to deliver on the index in terms of buzz wins and media attention. Several members of the Stamford Bridge outfit's squad have picked up buzz wins since the index began.
Similarly to United, there could be big changes at Chelsea during the summer. Diego Costa, their pivotal front man who has been on top form this season still refuses to rule out a move to China and with the money on offer who could blame Chelsea and Costa himself on cashing in.
Rumours continue to circulate with regards to other big names including Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic, Michy Batshyuai and Willian. This all leads to plenty of incoming speculation and as we have seen on the index recently, it doesn’t take much to get these players trending.
Again, we will take a look at some of those players most strongly linked who are on the Index, give our thoughts on if the transfer is likely to happen and if you stand to make some money out of buying early.
Our first name is Real Madrid and Spain striker Alvaro Morata. Morata had a successful spell under Chelsea boss Antonio Conte last season when the pair were at Juventus. Conte is known to be a fan of the frontman and it would be no surprise to see the blues in for Morata this summer given his failure to command a consistent starting spot back at Real Madrid.
He could be available for as little as £30m and could prove the perfect foil to another striker we will speak about later. On the index he can be picked up for around the £1.50 mark, there is plenty of scope for that price to increase as we approach the summer and should he complete the transfer he would surely settle around £3 minimum.
Second up is a player who is a new addition to the index, Tiemoue Bakayoko. The central midfielder has been one of a number of bright sparks at Monaco this season. The French side knocked Manchester City out of the Champions league as Bakayoko impressed holding the team together from the middle of the park.
Reports suggest that both Chelsea and Manchester United have already had bids accepted for Bakayoko and this potential tug of war only adds value to the player. If rumours are to be believed it would seem Stamford Bridge is the preferred destination and as the transfer saga rolls on there are going to be plenty of chances to make money on Bakayoko.
Next on Chelsea’s radar this summer is a player currently on loan at Bayern Munich but owned by Juventus. Similar to Morata, Kingsley Coman has worked under boss Antonio Conte previously at Juventus.
Although Bayern are believed to have an agreed buy price on the tricky winger, both Manchester City and Chelsea plan to hijack the deal with significantly higher bids that should turn heads within the Juve hierarchy. Touted figures of £60m from the English clubs show the potential that Coman has.
With regards to the index, being a forward thinking, exciting attacker adds value to Coman and if he was to make the switch to London would be a good long term hold in any portfolio.
Having already seen a significant price increase due to the rumour mill starting early, he is up about 45p to just under a £1. Should rumours continue into the summer and grow stronger there is no reason is price won’t reach much higher and should he sign he too will surely be a £3+ player.
However, beware of him signing on the dotted line for Bayern as his price will plummett in the other direction and could settle where he was previously at around 55p. Coman is definitely one to keep a close eye on one way or the other.
Moving on now to look at a potential double deal which would surely be the transfer story of the summer, although Mr Griezmann may have something to say about that. Everton duo Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku have been lined with a sensational £100m double swoop which would see both players move South.
Barkley will enter the final year of his contract next season and it has long been public knowledge that Lukaku fancies another crack at the Champions League following his previous stint at Chelsea.
Barkley seems to have rediscovered his mojo after a slow start to the season under new manager Ronald Koeman and has won back his place in the England squad as a result. This automatically increases his value on the Index and this coupled with the speculation linking the attacking midfielder to Chelsea has seen a sharp increase in price to the £1.75 mark.
His price is still on the move in an upward direction and should he transfer to the Bridge his price should move in line with another young English midfielder, Dele Alli who currently sits around £3.20, this suggests there are still a lot of legs in Barkleys price should the transfer come off.
Lukaku to Chelsea would surely rival Griezmann to Manchester United in terms of transfer of the summer and in terms of stealing a huge number of buzz’s throughout those months as Paul Pogba did last year.
Speculation is rife and Lukaku has already rejected Everton's first contract offer as he seeks elite level football. This has recently bought him his first ever buzz wins in the space of two days and should this continue throughout the summer as expected he can fully justify his high price. There could even be another significant rise towards the £5 mark plus should the transfer go through.
This transfer definitely seems to have some substance as Lukaku appears to think he may have some unfinished business to attend to at the Bridge. Now would seem a good time to get on if you believe this transfer will happen before he becomes too expensive and out of reach for many an investor.
